Juventus starlet Grigoris Kastanos’ agent, Yanni Evangelopoulos, has rubbished rumours linking the youngster with a move to Manchester United.
Kastanos, an attacking midfielder, moved to Juventus from Enosis Neon Paralimni in January 2014 after impressing scouts with his direct, innovative style, and made his Cyprus debut earlier this month.
It was reported that both Man United and Everton had expressed an interest in the youngster, sending scouts to monitor the 18-year-old’s progress.
However, according to his agent, rumours of United’s interest are essentially baseless.
“I know nothing about interest from Manchester United and Everton apart from what I have seen in the media,” Evangelopoulos said.
“Grigoris, although young, is on a professional contract at Juventus and he was with the first team this summer on preseason.
“It is nice to hear of reported interest from other clubs, but Juventus are also a big club — in the top 10 in Europe in my opinion. Grigoris is focused on developing at Juventus and trying to do his best for them.”
Kastanos is yet to feature in Juventus’ first-team, but was an effervescent force in pre-season games against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham earlier in the summer.
His style can be easily compared to the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, or even Chelsea’s Oscar: agile, smart on the ball, determined to move the ball forward and pick apart defences. An exciting prospect, for sure, but moving for an uncapped player is always risky.
As he begins to progress at Juventus, though, Mourinho and Co ought to keep a close eye on the youngster.
