Walter Mazzarri: Man Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a player I would call immortal

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has discussed Jose Mourinho’s new signings at Manchester United ahead of their Premier League clash on Sunday.

He had also quashed claims that he holds a grudge with the Portuguese boss and invited him to a post-match drink at Watford.

Mourinho has had a busy summer transfer window at Old Trafford, completing the signings of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.

Speaking about the big Swede, Mazzarri claims he’s the type of player he would call an immortal.

“Ibrahimovic is the type of player that I call an ‘eternal or immortal’ player,” he said.

“Unfortunately I have played against him many times, he is a great player and can make a difference on the pitch. He is very complete as a player.”

Pogba has made a slower start to life in England, but Mazzarri has warned not to take the 23-year-old lightly.

“He is a very young player and this may have an influence on him adapting a bit slower, because he has changed completely the team environment so everything is new for him,” Mazzarri added.

“He is a player that maybe with one play he can change the result. He is a great champion, but he is very young still so maybe it will take him a bit longer to adapt.”

Fans have grown impatient with Pogba after he has struggled to adapt to life on his return to United with the expectations of the world’s most expensive player.

However, it’s only early in the season and once he finds his feet he’ll be tearing up the Premier League with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in front of him.
