Ian Wright has urged Jose Mourinho to play Henrikh Mkhitaryan in his natural position at Manchester United.
The Armenian international has only started one game in the Premier League since his arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
Mourinho has played Mkhitaryan as a winger so far, but Wright insists playing him in his preferred central position will help him settle quicker.
“I’d like to see Henrikh Mkhitaryan play because he was so good at Borussia Dortmund,” he said.
“He has come in and he hasn’t played. What should have happened with Henrikh Mkhitaryan is that when he has come on, he should have come on in the position that he’s used to. Simply because that’s where he has done his best work.”
He was replaced at half-time during United’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City as he washed rushed back into action prematurely after picking up an injury.
He has been limited to substitute appearances against Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City, but hopes are he is able to find his feet after a disappointing start to life in England.
Mkhitaryan has plenty of talent and when he’s match-fit, will open up many options for Mourinho as a highly-versatile player with the ability to play anywhere along the front four.
