He scored his first goal since his world-record £89 million transfer to Old Trafford this summer and registered his best performance in midfield for Man United.
The side cruised to a comfortable four goal lead in the first-half and Pogba controlled the game from the centre of the park.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho believes he shone in a pairing with Ander Herrera.
“I don’t know [if it was his best game since returning from Juventus] I think he played okay against Southampton, he played okay against Hull City,” he said.
“When the team didn’t play well he plays not so well, when the team plays better he plays better.
“We all want more from him and from the team. The last thing that the team achieves is consistency because the process starts with playing well in spaces and the last thing you achieve is to play well consistently.
“So he has to be more consistent like the team, but I think him and Ander in midfield, they were good.”
The expectations had piled onto Pogba’s shoulders since his arrival as the world’s most expensive player, but he has gone the perfect way about silencing critics.
Although wasn’t the only player under-performing during United’s loss streak, all eyes will were on Pogba following his world record transfer fee.
Hopes are Man United are able to keep the momentum going and the thrashing of Premier League champions Leicester City, will be the right morale boost for the squad as they commence through the busy schedule of fixtures.
