Manchester United host Zorya Luhansk on Thursday night in the second group stage game of our Europa League campaign.
Following on from a loss away to Feyenoord, this game is now a must win for Jose Mourinho if he is gain some momentum and avoid any unnecessary pressure on whether Man United will qualify for the knockout stages or not. So, expect a strong team on Thursday.
With that in mind, here’s the first of our potential XI’s which Mourinho could put out:
The obvious discussion point is Wayne Rooney returning in the No.10 role which I fully expect him to do after being left out against Leicester City. These are the sorts of games I feel Rooney can be an asset in because I don’t want to see him starting for us in the Premier League at the moment, he’s not good enough to warrant a place in that team.
As for Memphis Depay, I’ve put him in a more central role here up front because one of his best performances came away at Watford City previously where he played more as the No.10, rather than a winger, and he excelled.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford rested for this game which is why I’ve made a couple of changes.
