Jose Mourinho has already confirmed some early team news for Manchester United ahead of our game with FC Zorya Luhansk tonight.
The main absentee from the game will be Luke Shaw after Mourinho revealed he was sent home by the medical team on Thursday due to being ill. There was no mention of whether his injury issues had been cleared up but if it was simply a case of having a minor fever, we could see him back for Stoke City this weekend.
The other player who won’t feature is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian midfielder is still not fit enough to return for Man United which is such a shame because this looked like the perfect match for him to really announce himself to fans.
One player who will start is Zlatan Ibrahimovic after Mourinho confirmed it in his press conference on Wednesday which is a bit of a surprise for me because I didn’t expect him to be in the starting XI. I saw this as an occasion where Zlatan could be rested but it goes to show how serious Mourinho is about winning the competition.
Anthony Martial is also available for the match having recovered from the injuries he suffered against Watford. It was the contusion injury to his calf in the build-up to their equaliser which saw him sidelined for a few games but he’s ready for action again. This season really hasn’t got started properly for Martial yet as he’s been so out of form, so here’s hoping this can be a turning point for him.
The full United team news will be released one hour before kick-off at 7.05pm tonight and we’ll bring you that news as soon as it is released.
