Paul Scholes insists Jose Mourinho picked the wrong side to face FC Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
The Portuguese boss made four changes from the 4-1 victory over Leicester City for the Europa League clash.
Speaking about the tactics, Scholes claims Mourinho should have tried to replicate the Leicester victory with an unchanged team.
“I thought it was a great chance to play the same team as Saturday,” he said.
“Maybe they found something on Saturday – that first half was probably the best performance of the season.
“I thought it was an ideal chance to play the same team.”
Naming an unchanged team would have been risky by Mourinho, especially with a Premier League fixture against Stoke City to play on Sunday.
With Wayne Rooney on the bench once again tonight against Zorya it will be interesting to see if he features over the weekend.
The Leicester clash was one of our best showings so far and it looked like Mourinho was onto something with the players, but it remains to be seen what the Portuguese boss will opt for.
