He has hit the ground running at Old Trafford following his move from Paris Saint Germain and has been praised by many of his team-mates for his professionalism both on and off the pitch.
Lingard has been improving his game playing alongside the 34-year-old and has been talking about the big Swede’s immense impact at the club.
“He’s been a leader for the team, especially when the captain’s not playing,” he said.
“He’s stepped up and he’s really led the team. Obviously the young lads look up to him and most of the older ones do as well.
“When you see the things he’s done in his career [you can’t help but be impressed]. He helps the young lads a lot. Especially me and Marcus [Rashford].
“He’s always there for us and always there for the team.”
With a dismal display against Manchester City which saw him substituted off at half-time, Lingard responded well last weekend when United cruised to a 4-1 victory over Leicester City.
Ibrahimovic’s presence in the dressing room will undoubtedly help the youngsters improve all aspects of their game as a player who has won everything there is to win in football.
His attitude and sheer experience makes him a natural leader in any line-up and all of the United players will be looking to make the most of it.
