Manchester United winger Ashley Young has urged his team-mates to play with the same speed and flair from their Leicester City clash when they face Stoke City this weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s side ended their three match loss streak by beating Leicester 4-1 last weekend in what turned out to be their best 90 minutes of football since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
On the day, United got the game off to a quick start scoring four goals within 20 minutes as they dismantled the champions at Old Trafford.
Speaking ahead of the game, Young insists everything clicked against Claudio Ranieri’s side.
“It was one of those days when everything clicked and it was goal after goal. The boys enjoyed it and if we can have more days like that at Old Trafford then it will be fantastic,” he said.
“The atmosphere was electric and the intent from us at the start was to go forward, be on the front foot and not let them play. We knew what their strengths were, we knew what their weaknesses were and we capitalised on that. We got the early goals and the game was over.
“We are determined to win again against Stoke now, especially going into the international break. We want to get that win and come back feeling fresh. We want to go into the break with a positive frame of mind and on the back of a win. It will be nice to obviously have a performance like we did in the first half against Leicester. We want to take that into this game and we will see what happens.”
Stoke have had their worst start to a season as they sit in 19 place and Mark Hughes will not make it easy for us when his squad visits Old Trafford on 2 October.
With the competition hotting up and big teams finding form, United will want to secure the win on Sunday and keep their charge for the title on track.
