Matteo Darmian set for January transfer from Manchester United – report

Manchester United defender Mattao Darmian could be set for a January transfer after losing his place in the starting XI under Jose Mourinho, according to reports.

His future at Old Trafford has come under heavy speculation with Mourinho favouring Antonio Valencia at right-back.

Darmian has only featured once since the Portuguese boss took over and was even left out of Man United’s Europa League squad for the Zorya clash.

Gazetta dello Sport claim he is closing in on a return to the Serie A and is one step away from joining Inter Milan.

It’s a shame he hasn’t been able to reach his full potential during his time at Old Trafford as fans witnessed glimpses of his spectacular talent when he first arrived at the club.

He hasn’t been able to re-find his form and has dropped further down the pecking order with Valencia hitting the ground running under Mourinho.

Darmian deserves more than to be left out each week, but letting him leave would be a big loss for United as he has plenty of potential.

The Italian giants will have him has one of their biggest priorities come January and if his situation at the club hasn’t improved, it may be the end of his short career at the club.
