Atletico Madrid striker and Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann has opened up about his relationship with Paul Pogba, labelling the 23-year-old as a really nice guy.
Griezmann is reportedly Mourinho’s prime target for next summer’s transfer window, but speculation surrounding a potential move was subdued after the Frenchman insisted he was happy under Atletico boss Diego Simeone.
Pogba and Griezmann formed a devastating partnership during France’s journey to the final of Euro 2016, frequently combining with devastating effect.
Speaking ahead of France’s World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and the Netherlands, Griezmann was full of kind words for Pogba.
“We get on very well. It is true that Euros has brought us closer together still,” he said.
“Paul is a really nice guy. He is it!
“We send messages, Snapchats. He’s really a good friend…When he plays with his club, I try to look at it to see if he had a good game or not.”
The sheer bromance that would develop between Pogba and Griezmann is, I think, sufficient reason in itself to bring the Atletico striker to Old Trafford.
But on a serious note, Pogba would thrive off Griezmann’s presence in the starting XI, and vice versa. The combination of Pogba’s superb range of passing and Griezmann’s terrier-like, furious style going forward wreaked havoc at Euro 2016, and Man United fans would be delighted to see such a fruitful partnership germinate at Old Trafford in the future.
