Henrikh Mkhitaryan has remained in Manchester as he continues his rehabilitation over the international break for his thigh injury.
He was pictured on Cross Street in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon after Manchester United had requested he miss Armenia’s World Cup qualifiers.
The 27-year-old has not played since he was involved in Man United’s 2-1 defeat to Man City on September 10 but could be set to make his return against Liverpool at Anfield on October 17.
The FFA said in a statement: “Henrikh Mkhitaryan will probably miss upcoming matches of Armenian national team against Romania and Poland. Football Federation of Armenia received an official letter from Manchester United FC on the permission of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s withdrawal from upcoming training camp and official matches.”
He last returned to training ahead of United’s United’s Europa League win over Zorya Luhansk but Jose Mourinho insisted he would not play in the Thursday night clash.
Mourinho claimed he would be available for the Stoke fixture, but he was spotted in Manchester city centre as his team-mates were preparing for the game.
It’s good to see Mourinho taking his time with Mkhitaryan, after being rushed into action early against Man City, he needs time to be eased back into football before he finds his feet at Old Trafford.
