Dimitri Payet believes Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba played like a great in France’s 1-0 win over Netherlands on Monday night.
The 23-year-old has come under heavy criticism since his world-record move to Old Trafford as he hasn’t been able to re-find his impressive Juventus form.
However, he replied in perfect fashion with a long-range decisive effort and was named man of the match.
Speaking after the game, Payet feels Pogba will be able to handle the pressure at Man United.
“He was like normal in the dressing room afterwards – happy – and, in addition, he scored,” he said.
“It is good for him.
“There is a lot of expectation around him – it does not help him. He has been attacked a lot but he has stayed strong calm and he played like a great.”
Pogba has sent out a clear message to his doubters and hopes are he’ll be able to take the confidence into the clash against Liverpool.
After being publicly criticised by Didier Deschamps, Pogba went the perfect way about showcasing his talent on the main stage.
The pressure would have undoubtedly piled on his shoulders after becoming the world’s most expensive player, but he has a sensible head on his shoulders and will be able to deal with expectations at Old Trafford.
