Luke Shaw takes time out to answer Manchester United fan mail

Luke Shaw has been trawling through heaps of fan mail ahead of Manchester United’s upcoming visit to Anfield next week.

A hamstring injury, picked up during Man United’s 3-1 loss to Watford in September, has ruled Shaw out of the last four games but the left-back is expected to return in time to be part of United’s squad for the crucial clash with Liverpool next Monday.

He’s really connected with fans straight away at the club and Shaw posted a photo of himself going through swathes of fan-mail, thanking fans for their support, to show he’s staying as connected to the fans as possible.

In Shaw’s absence, Daley Blind has taken up the role of left-back with seamless readiness, displaying an unyielding composure and class on the ball.

Against a tenacious Jurgen Klopp side, however, the Dutchman – for all his good qualities – is not suited to the left-back role which Shaw’s inclusion something of a necessity. The speed of Saido Mane and Roberto Firmino, alongside the craft of Adam Lallana and Philipe Coutinho, means the Englishman’s presence at left-back is paramount if Jose Mourinho‘s side are to weather the storm.

Both Shaw and Antonio Valencia will need to match the aggression of Liverpool’s front four (most likely comprising of the aforementioned quartet), stamping their authority early on with their own sneering tenacity and devastating speed.

If they don’t hit the ground running at Anfield, a catastrophe similar to United’s visit to the Emirates last season could very well ensue.
