Matteo Darmian could be part of a three way bidding war in January – report

Manchester United outcast Matteo Darmian has been linked with a January move to Barcelona amid the potential departure of Aleix Vidal, according to reports.

Although Hector Bellerin is allegedly at the top of the the Catalans shopping list, they would be unlikely to pay Arsenal’s high demands.

Barcelona are currently considering a swoop for Darmian as he has struggled for minutes under Jose Mourinho with Antonio Valencia and Timothy Fosu-Mensah both ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Inter Milan have been strongly linked with a move for the Italian, but Mundo Deportivo claim Juventus and Barcelona could be set to join the race to land his services.

It’s a shame he hasn’t been able to make his mark on the side since his arrival at Old Trafford as fans witnessed glimpses of his ability during his first month under former manager Louis van Gaal.

He even won the Player of the Month award for his first month at the club, but injuries and inconsistencies along the backline stopped him from reaching his full potential again.

After falling out of order with Mourinho it seems he could be set for a January transfer as his agent has recently confirmed they will look elsewhere if the current situation does not change.
