The Englishman has lost his place in the starting XI at Manchester United and England in recent times.
His exclusion from the squad against Leicester City resulted in one of the club’s most convincing victories since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s retirement.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Mourinho claims Rooney is feeling positive heading into the fixture.
“England is not my problem,” he said.
“Wayne Rooney is prepared, training well and is positive.”
It’s gone from bad to worse for Rooney at Man United, but it seems Mourinho will be giving him a run out at Anfield.
After a string of disappointing showings, many hoped being left on the bench would re-install the winning mentality into the Englishman, but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference so far.
Rooney has always been able to bounce back from any obstacles he has faced in the past and will be hoping to prove he’s still got it in the locker in front of 50,000 fans on Monday.
