Manchester United interested in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro – report

Manchester United are keen on signing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, according to reports from Italy.

Sandro quickly cemented himself as first choice left-back at Porto upon joining in 2011, aged just 20, and went on to make 87 appearances for the Portuguese side before earning a move to the Old Lady in 2015 for a fee of €26m.

Man United expressed an interest in the Brazilian throughout the summer, sending scouts to watch him on a more “frequent” basis as the 2016/17 season got underway.

According to Italian site Calcio Marcato, Jose Mourinho is willing to pay the €47m demanded by Juventus for the 25-year-old.

Sandro is rightly regarded as one of the brightest talents in Italy today. More importantly, though, he is seen by those at Juventus as a fundamental aspect of their present and future. He is not, like most Serie A full-backs, a rudimentary defensive stalwart; no, this is someone blessed with supreme attacking fervour, capable of bursting forward and practically doubling up as a second left-winger.

At 25, the Brazilian finds himself in at the zenith of his powers. Juventus, who lost their star player to United over the summer, will be reluctant to let such a bright talent head in the same direction.
