Dwight Yorke has warned Jose Mourinho he needs to start producing at Manchester United.
He was appointed as Louis van Gaal‘s replacement in May after the Dutchman failed guide his side to Champions League qualification.
Man United are currently seventh place in the Premier League, but have the perfect opportunity to close the gap after Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have dropped points over the weekend.
Speaking about the Portuguese boss, Yorke claims he will need to win a major trophy within the next 18 months to be classified as a success.
“He will not stop working until he has achieved something but I think he needs to bring some silverware in by 18 months into the job,” he said.
“He will be given a year to cement his side but that’s about it. Then he needs to produce the goods because it’s been four years since we won the Premier League and for a club the size of Manchester United that is not acceptable.”
Performances should be better but Mourinho is still learning his best XI at the club and it’ll only be a matter of time before it all clicks into place.
United won their first piece of silverware under Mourinho in the Community Shield at Wembley in August, but will be hoping to add the Premier League title to the list after the money that has been spent improving the squad.
