The 18-year-old broke through into Man United’s first-team last season after a rapid development since joining from Ajax as a 16-year-old back in 2014.
Now firmly part of the first-team squad under Jose Mourinho, the future is very bright for Fosu-Mensah and it’s going to be in Manchester wearing red.

Speaking about Fosu-Mensah’s new deal, Jose Mourinho highlighted how much potential he had and made it clear he’d be giving him lots of opportunities across the course of this season.
He said: “Tim is young player with great potential. I am pleased that he has signed a new contract and I am delighted at the progress he has made so far. It is clear to see that he is learning every day in training and there will be plenty of opportunities for him as the season continues.”
There isn’t a player who I’ve been more excited about in our academy in recent years. Marcus Rashford might have been the breakthrough talent but I’ll be the first to admit I was surprised about that when it happened. As for Fosu-Mensah, a spot in the first-team almost seemed like an inevitability.
At U18s, U19s and U21s level, Fosu-Mensah was head and shoulders above the players around him and those standout players are the ones – like Andreas Pereira and Adnan Januzaj – who make it through. So, I’m delighted United have secured Tim’s long-term future.
This year is all about Fosu-Mensah grabbing the opportunities he is given and trying to force his way into Mourinho’s starting XI because within the next couple of years he’ll definitely be an integral player for us.
