Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has expressed his desire to see Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric sign for Manchester United in the future.
The 31-year-old arrived at the Bernabeu in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £30m, and has since gone on to make 180 appearances for Los Blancos.
David Moyes expressed an interest in Modric back in 2013, reportedly sending officials to Madrid for talks concerning the Croat’s availability.
Giggs, speaking earlier his week, revealed his admiration for Modric.
“Croatia have great players and my current favourite is Modric ,” he said.
“I would love him to join Man United!”
A lot of players that make the transition from the Premier League to Madrid immediately struggle, perhaps unable to cope with the sheer pressure that comes with trying to uphold the club’s otherworldly standards.
Modric, however, has markedly flourished since heading to Spain. Deployed in a variety of midfield positions, the Croat brings supreme composure and enterprise whenever the ball ends up at his feet. Above anything, this is a wonderfully intelligent footballer, blessed with a level of spatial awareness that most players can only gawp at.
He has never, even in the pressurised Bernabeu cauldron, looked unsettled or out of place, and a move to Old Trafford would see the Croat instantly embrace English football once again.
