Jose Mourinho has explained his Manchester United team selection ahead of their clash against Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Portuguese boss admits his squad are happy and confident after their 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
He fielded a stronger team than expected against Man City, but Mourinho admits he doesn’t want to mess around after the Chelsea defeat and will play a strong team against Burnley to keep the good results rolling.
“The same way everybody wanted to play against City because of such a big defeat the match before, it’s the same for this,” he said.
“Everyone wants to play now for different reasons, everybody wants to play now because they’re happy and they’re confident. Little problems we have but little problems we will fight against.
“Burnley are difficult, I have felt that. Even in the year I was champion we drew at home to Burnley. It is the same Burnley.
“It is going to be very difficult for us because we arrive after a run of 5 matches with just 2 days rest in between.
“Finally we are going to have a Sunday off and a little bit of time before the second Fenerbahce match.”
Mourinho will want to get the Premier League campaign back on the right track and a strong win over Burnley will help push the team in the right direction.
The Chelsea loss will play a big factor in his selection and after facing embarrassment at Stamford Bridge last weekend, Mourinho will want to build on the City performance with another victory.
