The Portuguese boss has recently expressed his love for Carrick at Old Trafford, claiming it was a pity he couldn’t stop the clock on the Englishman ageing.
However, Mourinho decided not to play Carrick against Burnley at Old Trafford because he has a vital role to play against Fenerbahce in the Europa League qualifiers.
Speaking after the game, Ferdinand took to social media to discuss Carrick’s situation and urge the Portuguese boss to make use of him.
The last couple of managers havent fancied Carrick…i really dont get it at all…his game never relied on pace either. Best passer at club

Carrick has showcased he still perform at the highest level with every performance he has made under Mourinho and it was a surprise to see him excluded from the squad.
Although Pogba didn’t need guiding tonight, Man United needed some experience on the field, and Carrick would have been brilliant at opening Burnley up and creating the perfect chance.
The Englishman was a massive figure under Sir Alex Ferguson, but hasn’t had the same impact since, his game has never relied on pace which is why he can still produce stellar performances at 35, as Rio suggests.
