Manchester United fans were delighted to see Bastian Schnweinsteiger make a return to first-team training under Jose Mourinho.
The German was immediately consigned to the reserves upon Mourinho’s arrival, with the 53-year-old insisting the midfielder was not part of his plans at Old Trafford.
However, pictures emerged earlier today of Schweisteiger training at Carrington with the first-team.
Man United fans were quick to rejoice at the German’s reintroduction into the fold after fourth months of anonymity.
Schweini is one of those players I admire the most, finally he's back in the training.Hope he'll start in playing 11 soon. #Schweinsteiger

I am glad Bastian Schweinsteiger is back training with the first team, wasn't fair to exile him after doing nothing wrong.

Up until now, I was largely indifferent towards Schweinsteiger’s exclusion from the first-team. The reasons underpinning his absence were understandable: Mourinho, above anything, wanted to involve players that aligned with his style, placing emphasis on the importance of powerful, energetic midfielders with running power and strength. Such a criteria would always preclude Schweinsteiger from having much of an influence under the 53-year-old.
But seeing that angelic smile once again – after months of awkward ‘good luck’ tweets and photos of one man training sessions – has suddenly incited a feeling of immense support for Schweinsteiger. With United struggling, falling eight points behind the leaders after their latest catastrophe, perhaps the German’s timeless experience and composure does have a place in this United side after all.
