Owen Hargreaves believes Jose Mourinho won’t get Manchester United into top four of the Premier League without Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian has been left on the sidelines at Old Trafford and has recently been pictured training alone at the Aon Training Complex.
Supporters expected to see him in action against Burnley after Mourinho had previously stated he was 100% fit, but were left frustrated by his exclusion.
Speaking about his situation, Hargreaves claims Mkhitaryan will be the difference between Champions League qualification.
“What are they eighth in the Premier League? You’ve got to play him,” he said.
“What he’s tried now so far – he doesn’t believe he’s been given time – hasn’t worked so at some point get one of the best players you have on your team into your team.
“I think the back four is very strong, best goalkeeper in the country. I think you play Carrick, I think you play Herrera to the right, Pogba to the left, Rashford off the left and Mkhitaryan off the right.
“And I think as a team, I genuinely believe it’s a a good a team [as any] in the Premier League.
“But right now that team as it is, I don’t think they can finish in the top four.”
He arrived with high expectations following his spectacular season with Borussia Dortmund, but he hasn’t even been given the right opportunities to prove himself.
His inclusion in the squad would inject plenty of attacking threat but it remains to be seen when he’ll be re-introduced into the squad.
There are no excuses to leave him out against Fenerbahce and I hope Mourinho sees that.
