Memphis Depay left out of Manchester United’s travelling squad for Fenerbahce

Memphis Depay has been left out of Manchester United’s travelling squad to Fenerbahce for Thursday night’s Europa League clash in Istanbul.

The Dutchman was a notable absentee after being left at home and it remains to be seen whether he has picked up an injury or is simply a casualty of Mourinho’s large squad.

He has endured a difficult time at Old Trafford since his move from PSV Eindhoven last year and has failed to live up to the expectations of fans.

Jose Mourinho‘s arrival at the club represented a new arrival for Memphis to fight his way into the side, but he has only made one start this season which came in the EFL Cup win over Northampton Town.

Reports suggest he could be set to leave the club in January, but at 22, Memphis still has plenty of development ahead of him at Man United.

He has showcased glimpses of his ability, particularly in Europe, but needs the opportunity to build on his consistency in England.

It’s a shame to see him underperforming at Man United and it’s even more disappointing after considering how good he was for PSV Eindhoven, firing them to the Eredivisie title as the club’s top goalscorer.
