The great mystery of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and his start to life at Manchester United could come to an end tonight in Istanbul.
Mkhitaryan travelled with his Man United teammates for our Europa League clash with Fenerbahce and may well make his first start since September 10 against Man City.
Jose Mourinho took 21 players over to Turkey which means two other players, alongside third choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, will not be part of the final match day squad. If Mkhitaryan happens to be one of those players again, fans will be furious.
He trained all week with the team and trained in Istanbul after we landed as well, so he’s fully prepared and ready for the game tonight:
We could desperately do with a pacy winger who has a goal threat and an eye for a pass from the right hand side. Jesse Lingard, for all his qualities, isn’t a scratch on Mkhitaryan and the sooner we bring him in the team the better. Hopefully starting with Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
Getting to see Mkhitaryan in full flow was one thing I was truly excited about this season but we’re yet to get that. It should be a matter of time but with United looking so limp in front of goal at the moment, apart from the 4-1 drubbing of Fenerbahce in the reverse leg, Mkhitaryan could be the man to change that.
