The Spaniard was heavily linked with a summer exit following Mourinho’s appointment in May, as he sold the 28-year-old during his spell at Chelsea because he didn’t fit into Mourinho’s system.
However, he has been one of our best performers so far and has cemented his place in the starting XI following his impressive showings.
Speaking about his situation, Mata claims he wants to continue to showcase his talent.
“I want to continue to do the talking on the pitch after a strange summer, with so many things that came out that were false,” he said.
“I’m enjoying myself on the pitch and things are going well for me.
“I’ve had a good month and I want to continue to showcase my talent on the pitch.”
He’s been incredible at Man United so far this season and has done an excellent job of making the No.10 role his own.
He’s currently with the Spain squad which will face Macedonia in a World Cup Qualifier before a friendly match vs England, where he will face teammate Wayne Rooney following Gareth Southgate’s confirmation that he will captain his side.
