Michael Keane’s rise at Burnley was inevitably going to lead to him being linked with a move back to Manchester United and those stories have now started to emerge.
ESPN suggest Man United are weighing up a move which could bring Keane back to Man United having left the club back in 2015 to join Burnley.
He’s since gone on to become a key figure for Burnley and helped them to promotion from the Championship last season. This year he is widely considered one of the best English centre-backs in the Premier League and his recent performance against United at Old Trafford earned plenty of plaudits after he shut us out in our 0-0 draw.
I’ll be up front in saying I don’t think we should have ever let Keane go in the first place. He had broken through at a time where we weren’t exactly spoilt with centre-back options and I feel he was a bit overlooked when he should have been given more opportunities, especially when you consider how much game time the likes of Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair were getting.
Burnley did well to sign Keane and he’s excelled there but there is no chance he’s coming back to United, although I doubt it will stop any rumours and reports emerging. I suppose that is because we re-signed Paul Pogba so I expect United to continue to be linked with any former player who plays well at any point.
