Didier Drogba has reacted to claims suggesting that Jose Mourinho can’t handle the size of the job at Manchester United.

The Portuguese boss has never finished a full campaign outside of the top three with any of the clubs he has managed.

However, after a shaky start to the season, Man United are currently sat sixth in the Premier League table, six points off leaders Liverpool.

Speaking about Mourinho, Drogba has urged fans to give him the patience he deserves.

“He’s not a has-been,” he said.

“I think that it’s a very big challenge for him. I think he has to take some time to build a team.”

Mourinho’s side have struggled to keep any consistency with their performances and with a clash against Arsenal set for after the international break, the Portuguese boss will need to find the right balance and quickly.

Following their time together at Chelsea, it’s no surprise to hear Drogba backing Mourinho, but having never lasted more than three years in charge of any of the previous six clubs he has managed, there are big concerns regarding Mourinho and his methods.
