Michael Carrick has told Jose Mourinho he can still make a big contribution at Manchester United this season.

The 35-year-old has only only made six starts all season, but Mourinho’s side have won all six games the Englishman has started.

He’s expected to play a big role ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford on Saturday as he’s recently earned his spot back in United’s Premier League squad following his stunning showings in the Europa League.

Speaking about his situation, Carrick claims he has much more to give Man United.

“I’ve seen it before, many times, with players who’ve come through this club and come towards the end of their careers still being able to make such a big contribution,” he said.

“It doesn’t have to be every week, it doesn’t have to be grabbing headlines every week but there’s a contribution to be made and I’ve seen it many times in the time I’ve been here.

“Hopefully I’ve learned from that and I can give my contribution in some sort of way.”

Supporters may finally see the perfect Man United trio in action at Old Trafford over the weekend with Paul Pogba, Carrick and Ander Herrera all set to start.

Carrick controls the game like no other and even though he’s 35, the Englishman orchestrates the play without having to run, which is why he’s still able to produce many stellar performances.
