The Frenchman arrived at Old Trafford as the world’s most expensive player and although he has showcased glimpses of his ability, has not hit his top form yet.
His performances have been criticised by supporters and the Arsenal clash at Old Trafford on Saturday represents the perfect opportunity for him to prove himself at the Theatre of Dreams.
Speaking about Pogba, Carrick claims he’s well aware of the high expectations at Man United.
“There’s a lot made of Paul,” he said. “I suppose because of the fee and the headlines he grabs.
“I mean the attributes he has are incredible. We all saw the goal against Swansea. Physically, he is pretty much perfect. He’s such a specimen and he can cover ground. The ability he’s got is something very special.
“But, at the same time it is not easy coming in and hitting the ground running, be at top form. At this club for starters – changing leagues, changing countries. There are all sorts of things that come into it.
“He’s going to be such a great player. He’s already such a top player and I’m sure he’s going to improve.
“He’s well aware of the situation and that people are looking at him. But he went and produced a performance like he did against Swansea and I’m sure there’s more of them to come.”
Carrick and Ander Herrera have both been hailed for their performances alongside Pogba and we may just see the perfect trio in action against Arsenal.
Hopes are Pogba can pick up from where he left off before the international break with a stunning showing against Swansea City and an incredible goal to add to his tally.
