Mauricio Pochettino has urged Manchester United fans to give Jose Mourinho more time to put his ideas in place at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese boss has suffered a shaky start to life at Man United as his side are currently sixth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

He has also suffered two defeats in the Europa League, leaving Man United third in the group, one point behind Fenerbahce and Feyenoord.

Speaking about Mourinho, Pochettino called for him to be given more time.

“It’s clear that when you are with a great club, as I am with Tottenham, the pressure to win is always greater,” he said.

“There are always voices of criticism when the results are not what everyone anticipates. Definitely, whenever one starts a new project, it requires time.

“In this case, even though Jose is one of the best coaches in the world, he needs more time to put his ideas in place and so that the team can function as he wants them to. It is too early to pass judgement.”

Mourinho has struggled to find his best XI so far, but there’s no doubt that once everything clicks, his side will be very difficult to beat.

He has struggled to build an consistency among his players due to rotation for the Europa League and a host of injuries, but hopes are the Portuguese boss can continue his impressive record over Arsene Wenger once Arsenal visit Old Trafford on November 19.
