Raphael Varane opens up about Real Madrid future amid Man United links

Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane has opened up about his Real Madrid future amid rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The Frenchman was brought to the Bernabeu by Mourinho in 2011 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the finest young defenders in the world.

It was reported last summer that the 53-year-old was keen on signing the 23-year-old once again, but Varane was quick to pledge his allegiance to Los Blancos.

Varane, speaking earlier this week, reiterated those sentiments.

“Right now, I would like to stay at Real Madrid until the end of my career,” he said.

“Things are going very fast in this industry, but why would I not want to retire at Madrid? There is no reason for me to leave.

“I am feeling very well at Madrid. It is obviously very difficult to predict what the future looks like, but I cannot see myself leaving at the moment. I want to continue to be a first-team regular here at Madrid. That is my long-term goal.”

One cannot blame Varane for committing his future to Madrid. They are, after all, the kings of Europe, blessed with supreme talent in every position under the wise tutelage of Zinedine Zidane.

The Frenchman has long been dubbed as the successor to Sergio Ramos’ title as Madrid’s central stalwart. And at the age of 23, many years of success and silverware lie attractively on the horizon for the defender.
