Wayne Rooney has labelled treatment as disgraceful claiming he has been shown a lack of respect after photographs were released of him out late while on England duty.
He joined a wedding party at the team’s hotel in Watford following England’s World Cup qualifying 3-0 victory against Scotland.
Although he has offered an apology for the inappropriate images that surfaced on social media, he has still been subject of negative headlines and comments.
Speaking about the situation, Rooney claims he’s had enough of the unfair treatment.
“What’s been going on is disgraceful,” he said.
“I’m proud to play for my country and I’m proud of my achievements. It’s not finished yet. I think what’s been going on is disgraceful. It shows a lack of respect and I think enough is enough. That’s all I want to say.
“Enough is enough. It feels as if the media are trying to write my obituary and I won’t let that happen. I love playing for my country and I am proud of my achievements to date – but I have not finished yet.”
Rooney was simply enjoying himself after a long week of work and although he has found himself in a difficult situation for club and country in recent times, he should be allowed to relax after he’s finished work.
It’s understandable why some have grown frustrated with his actions, especially while he still has plenty of work to do in order to get back into the first-team, but it seems the Englishman has had enough of the criticism.
