Antonio Valencia dedicated his Premier League Man of the Match award to Manchester United’s medical team following his spectacular return from injury in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
He fractured his arm on 26 October during the 1-0 EFL Cup victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford and was forced to undergo an operation.
Even though he was expected to be out of action for some time, Valencia made a surprise return to the first-team for Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford and produced a brilliant showing.
The Ecuadorian took to Instagram after the game to thank the club’s medical staff for their help in his recovery.
“We regret not having obtained the three points and the next match will be better,” he said. “I also want to dedicate this award to all of the Manchester United medical corps. Thank you for having patience with my recovery.”
Valencia was by far the best player on the pitch against Arsenal, constantly making chances and he was a nightmare for Arsene Wenger’s men as he charged down the wing.
He was given the official Man of the Match award for his contribution and it was a nice touch for him to thank the medical staff following his speedy return.
