Manchester United are keeping tabs on Barcelona youngster Carles Alena, according to reports.
Barcelona are in talks over a new deal with the 18-year-old midfielder, with the club set to offer him a four year contract and a buyout of around £43million.
He has been dubbed the “new Andres Iniesta” in Catalonia and Jose Mourinho is allegedly keen on brining him to Old Trafford.
With coach Luis Enrique’s backing, he is set to become a big star at Camp Nou and was even on the bench for the Blaugrana’s disappointing 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon.
He wouldn’t be the first Barcelona player to be lured away from Spain to the Premier League and would follow the likes of Hector Bellerin, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas.
There will be big competition for for his services and Mourinho may look to act on the fact that there are limited opportunites available to Alena at Camp Nou.
Alena is is the second youngest member of the Barca B team but has been named as a substitute three times this season and also travelled with the squad to face Manchester City for the recent Champions League match, although he hadn’t played, it’s clear that the manager has good faith in his talent.
