The 53-year-old’s first signing as Manchester United was Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly, who enjoyed an excellent start to the season before being sidelined with a knee injury for three months.
And according to Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst, the Special One already has his eyes on two particular names to replace Jones and Rojo at Old Trafford.
The identity of either transfer target remains undisclosed, but one can still speculate.
Mourinho’s interest in Raphael Varane, for example, dates back to before he took the reins Man United, and reports continue to suggest that the 53-year-old is keeping an eye on the Frenchman, despite the Real Madrid defender recently pledging his future to the Spanish side.
Atletico Madrid’s José Giménez has also emerged as a potential signing under Mourinho. It was reported earlier last month that the 53-year-old had touted the 20-year-old – with a release clause of £56m – as his main priority for the upcoming transfer window.
Mourinho is known for his shrewd defensive acquisitions, and United fans will be keen to see who he opts for next.
