Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been waiting a long time for his chance at Manchester United but it looks like that’s about to come on Thursday.
Jose Mourinho confirmed earlier this week that Mkhitaryan would feature against Feyenoord and there is no reason to suggest he won’t start in what is a must win Europa League game for Man United after losing away to both Feyenoord and Fenerbahce.
The Armenian arrived at Old Trafford to much fanfare but through a variety of reasons and injuries he’s been left out of the side for the overwhelming majority of the season. That is set to change and United fans are buzzing about it.
Mkhitaryan could well be the player we’ve been missing on the wing because as good as Antonio Valencia‘s overlapping runs are, his final ball simply isn’t consistent enough and with somebody like Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the middle we need to be making the most of his aerial power in the box. That’s where Henrikh could come in and make such a profound difference.
Not to mention his ability to run at defenders at pace with the ball and thread eye of the needle passes. His all round game makes him so much more of a threat than anyone else we’ve played on the wings this season and I can’t wait to see him play.
Will Feyenoord be the game where Mkhitaryan announces himself properly? I certainly hope so.
