Jose Mourinho has explained why Henrikh Mkhitaryan started for Manchester United against Feyenoord.

Supporters had been waiting to see the Armenian in action as he hadn’t featured since the derby defeat against Manchester City in September.

He was involved in play throughout the entire game and it was brilliant to see him playing for Man United again.

Speaking about Mkhitaryan, Mourinho believes he’s capable of finding his feet after a difficult start.

“He’s woking really hard,” he said.

“It’s a bit difficult for him to adapt especially to the intensity and competitiveness of the Premier League.

“Some players have qualities that allow them to adapt more quickly than others but, especially mixed with an injury, it has been more difficult for him. But it’s a player that we know has a lot of talent.

“Playing in a very offensive team like today, with Michael Carrick as the only positional player, should be good for him.”

He was last season’s Bundesliga Player of the Season, but Mourinho claims he’s found it difficult to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League, which is why he’s picked up some vital minutes against Feyenoord.

Mkhitaryan was lively on the pitch, creating chances, making runs and he looked full of confidence to say he’s been frozen out at Old Trafford.

His performance would have impressed Mourinho and I can’t wait to see him back in action again as he added a serious attacking threat to the side.
