Paul Scholes insists Wayne Rooney is special after his record-breaking goal for Manchester United during their 4-0 victory over Feyenoord on Thursday night.
He has lost his automatic starter role for club and country in recent times and was under pressure to perform following his drunken antics while on international duty with England.
However, he seriously impressed after netting a sublime finish to put Man United ahead, followed by a brilliant no-look assist for Juan Mata‘s goal.
Speaking about the Englishman, Scholes claims everyone at the club knows how talented he is.

Rooney has now scored 39 goals in Europe, which is more than any other player has managed in a Man United shirt.
The Englishman was in desperate need for a performance like he gave tonight, he has silenced his critics and we may even see him against West Ham in the Premier League after he impressed Jose Mourinho.
He’s also edging closer to Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time Manchester United scoring record of 249 goals and it’s an incredible representation of what he has managed to achieve during his time at the club.
