Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hailed Manchester United for their amazing performance in the 4-1 win against West Ham United in the EFL Cup quarter-final.
The Swede gave Man United a second-minute lead and then ended the game as he started it as he picked up a late goal after Ander Herrera beat three men and played the ball into him on the edge of the six-yard box.
Following draws against Stoke City, Burnley, Arsenal and West Ham, the result was needed to get showings back on the right track and Ibrahimovic was delighted with the team performance.
“[On Sunday] they had that goal after a couple of minutes and we were chasing them but today was different because, when you’re one goal up, you get more spaces. Today’s situation was totally different,” he said.
“We played the game exactly how we wanted. I think, collectively, we were amazing because we helped each other. We sacrificed for each other and we made it easy for each other.
“The importance is to play good and feel good and give the guys the confidence so they feel comfortable when they’re playing. I’m working hard and the team is working hard. We try to help each other and I try to help in the best way I can.
“I’m happy so far with my performance. I should have a couple more goals but the goals will come. I’m not worried because the goals are the easiest problem.”
Man United have failed to remain clinical in front of goal in recent times and following the 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday, Jose Mourinho‘s men have replied in perfect fashion.
Ibrahimovic has come under heavy criticism following his goal drought but hopes are he can keep the momentum going for when United play Everton at Goodison Park on December 4.
