His midfield role has come under question this season as he’s featured in a deeper role alongside summer arrival Paul Pogba.
Speaking about his role, Fellaini insists he’s happy to give his all in any position for Mourinho.
“In the middle of midfield is, in my opinion, my best position. I can play as a No. 6 or a No. 8 but in the middle is my position,” he said.
“It is hard to adapt to moving around, but I’m used to it. This season, I just play in the midfield defensively and I’m happy like that.”
Fans were often frustrated with his involvement under van Gaal as his showings did not fit in with the Dutchman’s philosophy.
However, under Mourinho this campaign, he has proven that he still has more to offer after building a strong partnership alongside Pogba.
He has a big role under Mourinho and the Portuguese boss even admitted that he would have played against West Ham in the EFL Cup if he was available.
