Henrikh Mkhitaryan instists he wants to take the opportunity to impress Jose Mourinho against Zorya Luhansk with both hands.
The Armenian will be playing on familiar territory after scoring a hat-trick in Odessa during his time at Ukrainian side Shakhtar.
Although he struggled with a shaky start to the season, Mkhitaryan has put in some brilliant performances and has put in a solid case for cementing his place in the starting XI.
Speaking at Mourinho’s press conference, Mkhitaryan claims he’s ready to take his chance.
“We didn’t give up yet in the Premier League,” he said.
“We’re not yet saying we’re out of the competition. There’s a lot of games to go.
“In Europe we’re going to try and go as far as we can.
“I want to say that you have to be ready for every situation. I was ready and I show that I’m a top-level player and it doesn’t matter if i play or not. I’m always going to help the team.
“Tomorrow’s game will be difficult because of the weather conditions, because it’s difficult to play. But I think we will do our best.
“I feel that everybody is good with the conditions because we come here to win, we don’t want to lose this game. We want to do our best.
“I have very good memories of being here. My last game in Odessa was a very good one when I scored my first hat-trick for Shakhtar so I can say that I’m pleased to be here again.”
Mkhitaryan has been excellent since his return and I can’t wait until he cements his place in the side.
Hopes are he can put in a wonderful performance to impress the Portuguese boss once again in front of a familiar crowd.
