Against FC Zorya, his high pressing in their half won us possession on a variety of occasions and helped us to keep a stranglehold on the match but it’s not just been against pub team opposition where the Spaniard has shone.
For me, Herrera is the player who has improved the most under Mourinho and it’s wonderful to see him taking centre stage, literally, after not being given the best opportunities under Louis van Gaal.

I’ve seen a snide side to Herrera this year which I’m quickly falling in love with as well. For someone with such a baby face, he’s got a dark side he’s not afraid to bring it out and put in a hard tackle, sometimes a dirty one, when the team needs it.
When was the last time we had that in a midfielder? Herrera’s been captain material this season and the more he plays the more I am convinced he’s the perfect candidate to take the armband when Wayne Rooney leaves.
