Manchester United fans were full of praise for Paul Pogba during their side’s 2-0 win over Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Frenchman, after a shaky first ten minutes, produced a series of powerful runs and precise passes as the game went on, crowning a convincing display with a sublime assist for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after 87 minutes.
Man United fans were quick to point out that Pogba, once again, had dominated proceedings in midfield.
Lots like to highlight his faults and bad touches / games but then it goes suspiciously quiet when Pogba does well. "£89m" ???? bit odd that.

It's a widely-made point, but Pogba's impact would be much more obvious if Zlatan's finishing had been that decisive all season.

Pogba showed glimpses of his magnificence

With widespread derision being aimed at Jose Mourinho in recent weeks, Pogba has quietly gone about imposing himself in midfield. The 23-year-old, especially alongside Michael Carrick, has grown in stature after a shaky start to life at Old Trafford, passing and moving with greater levels of precision. Suddenly the wall of noise has gone quiet.
His assist – a truly magnificent long-range, defence-splitting reverse pass that found Ibrahimovic in acres of space – was an illustration of his ability to produce sudden moments of magic. Such a moment also seemed to resonate with his gloomier spell at Old Trafford, where the Frenchman would pick out sublime passes at will, only for Zlatan to fall short with the finish, which in turn led to ‘Einsteins’ labelling Pogba as a flop.
This time around, however, Zlatan made no mistake, and United fans will hope to see the Frenchman continue in the same vein.
