Here is all the early team news for Manchester United before our game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Chris Smalling is ruled out of the Spurs clash as he still hasn’t recovered from injury. We’re still unsure what the injury is or how severe but Jose Mourinho is expecting to have him back before Christmas, so it can’t be that serious.
Luke Shaw will also miss the game. For me, I think we’re desperately missing Shaw on the left hand side and have ever since that horrible injury away to PSV Eindhoven. The sooner he is back in top form the better.
One player who has returned and is available is Eric Bailly. The Ivorian defender completed the full 90 minutes away to Zorya Luhansk and Mourinho said there are no problems with him. Here’s hoping he is fit to start.
As well as the confirmed news, here are updates on a few more players.
Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian were both rested for Zorya and are fully fit to play Spurs. I’m expecting to see them both start in the full-back positions. Another player who was given a few days off is Michael Carrick and I really hope he is fit to play because our midfield is so much better with him in it.
One slight concern is Juan Mata after the Spaniard looked in a bit of discomfort when he was substituted against Zorya. It isn’t known whether he will play.
