Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes his team-mates at Manchester United must show their ruthless side if they want to successfully challenge for a Champions League qualification.
The Swede has scored 13 goals in 22 appearances since arriving at Old Trafford and despite a big goal drought, has got back to what he does best in recent times, which is finding the back of the net.
Man United go into the weekend clash nine points off the top four and must win against fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday to try and close the gap.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ibrahimovic has called for United to be stronger in the closing stages of the game.
“We want to kill every game we play,” said Ibrahimovic. “But as long as you create the chances, you’ll score.
“But you also need to get the three points. That’s more important, but you can get the three points by winning 1-0, not only 4-0.
“We’ve created many chances, but you need to close the game out.
“It hasn’t happened yet, but we’re working hard. We’ve learned now that we have to score more than one goal to get the three points.
“I think we’re performing very good and the team has got a good balance.
“We’ve had some unlucky games, some games we made simple mistakes to concede a goal, but most of our game is good.
“So if we can just get a couple of wins in a row, it would give us even more confidence. We are not playing badly.”
Man United have not received the results their performances have warranted and after a run of three consecutive league draws after dominating the game for 90 minutes, they need to get the campaign back on the right track.
Hopes are they can claim all three points against Tottenham and end their run of disappointing results.
