Jamie Carragher thinks Jose Mourinho needs to change his fortune at Manchester United by following Jurgen Klopp’s example.
The Portuguese boss took over from Louis van Gaal in May and despite a big summer investment, has not been able to have the impact supporters were hoping for.
Following a disappointing set of results, Mourinho has been sent off twice and banned from the touchline for two matches already this season.
Speaking about his impact, Carragher has urged him to control his emotions.
“Mourinho is being emotional on the side of the pitch, but probably not in a positive way and then everything feels so different with Klopp,” he said.
“When I look at Mourinho over the last year, he just looks like he gets angry very quickly and I wonder whether the players in his team are looking at him and wondering what he is up to.
“From what I can see looking in from the outside, Mourinho has taken his Chelsea problems into the Manchester United job and it shouldn’t be like that.
“This should be a fresh start for him, a renewed Jose, but all the grievances he had with referees and the FA are rumbling on in a new job now.
“He is probably scratching his head and asking why his methods are not working anymore. He just looks like he is getting angry.”
United haven’t received the results their performances have warranted and have plenty of ground to cover on league leaders Chelsea.
The Christmas period is a busy time for the side, but they should be able to go on a run against the likes of Crystal Palace, West Brom, Sunderland and Middlesbrough in upcoming weeks.
