Jose Mourinho has explained why Henrikh Mkhitaryan has performed so well since his return at Manchester United.
The Armenian had struggled to make his mark on the side since his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund, however he has bounced back in perfect fashion.
Mkhitaryan has contributed two goals and two assists in four games since his return and has cemented his place in Mourinho’s starting XI.
Speaking about his situation, Mourinho claims he has done well to come back and cross the line of how he wanted the midfielder to play.
“Mkhitaryan crossed the line where he couldn’t play how I wanted him to play,” he said.
“He has everything I want an attacking player to bring to the play so hopefully he can go on a run and comeback fresh after his injury.”
Mkhitaryan has been excellent since his return and it’s a big blow for him to be stretchered off the pitch, especially after his recent performances.
Mourinho claims he should be back by boxing day, but there aren’t any players on the squad that can inject the same attacking threat as the Armenian into the team.
He was only just starting to find his feet and hopes are he can pick up where he left off once he returns to the side.
