Manchester United travel to Selhurst Park for their Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace on Wednesday determined to build on last weekend’s win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan crowned another superb display with the winning goal against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, rifling a thunderous shot past Hugo Lloris after latching on to a sublime Ander Herrera pass in the 28th minute.
The only caveat that emanated from what was a positive afternoon for Jose Mourinho was the late injury to Mkhitaryan – Man United’s best player since he was placed in the starting XI for the 4-0 win with Feyenoord. It is thought that the Armenian will return in time for the Boxing Day fixture with Sunderland.
With that in mind, here is a potential XI for the game against Crystal Palace, with Juan Mata stepping in to replace Mkhitaryan on the right hand side.
Both Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo – two fundamental aspects of Mourinho’s side in recent weeks – will miss out on Wednesday’s clash after picking up yellow cards against Spurs. Eric Bailly, rested on Sunday after his exertions in Odessa, will receive a chance to make his first Premier League start since October.
Matteo Darmian, who featured at left-back against Spurs, will occupy Valencia’s position, paving the way for Shaw to make a return to the starting XI.
